In the framework of the on going crisis in Northern and Southern Leich states (former Unity) in South Sudan, Tdh is organizing a 2 week needs assessment starting between 27th March and 1st April 2017. The purpose of this assessment is to provide Tdh with a clear overview of humanitarian needs and gaps, updated information on the situation in Food Security, Nutrition, Health, protection and WASH and a well-defined operational strategy to implement quickly humanitarian programmes in the region.
To that end, Tdh is looking for an experienced Assessment coordinator/team leader able to lead the assessment and provide technical inputs on Food security notably. He/She would lead a team of 3 to 4 persons in the field:
One WASH specialist
One Health specialist
One Log specialist
One liaison officer/driver
Role:
• Coordinate the overall exploratory mission logistics and administration. .
• Responsible for the overall security matters of the mission.
• Organize regular team meetings, in order for the team to benefits from triangulation, having multiple perspectives of the (complex) situation at each site/event/visit
• Merge into a consolidated draft assessment report all the inputs, in line with the requirements and the suggested report structure • Provide a consolidated findings and recommendations report for the general regional response strategy, the specific technical responses (FSL, Nut, WASH, etc.) and for the operational development of the future project, if and where relevant.
In addition to this coordination/lead role, the field coordinator should have technical knowledge preferably in Food security/Nutrition.
Time frame: Start (non negotiable) Week of 27th March/1st April - Desk review, HQ briefs, desk review
Until 10th April, at least ten days in South Sudan
One Week for report writing
Deliverable. Full report in Lausanne by Friday 17th April at the latest
Profile At least 5 year experience in humanitarian aid High Proficiency in English, local language added value. Excellent writing skills Sound knowledge on assessments and evaluation Relevant degree in Humanitarian Aid.
Consultant contract - Max 4 weeks - total fee of 5 000 EUR.
