We are looking for our delegation in Jordan for a
Communication Coordinator- MENA Zone
Position Start Date: 1st December 2017
Duration: one year renewable
Location: Based in Amman / mobility in national and regional places with Tdh activities
Supervisor: HQ Communication Head as solid line supervisor and Jordan Country Representative as dotted line supervision (due to the regional project lead by Jordan delegation).

Contractual conditions
Swiss salaried contract 4 100 CHF (~3 400 €) < > 5 300 CHF (~4 400€) net salary/month according to experience x 13, Annual Leave: 25 days per year. Contract includes also local accommodation and transportation, health and repatriation insurance, return flight.
Context
Well into its seventh year of conflict, the situation in Syria continues to worsen with thousands of civilians still seeking refuge in neighbouring countries each month. More than half of the Syrian population has been displaced inside or outside the country. As a consequence, Lebanon and Jordan have the highest per capita ratios of refugees worldwide and as the other major host countries in the region (Turkey, Iraq and Egypt) they have been the largest providers of both human and financial resources for the response. Both countries currently host 1’655’928 refugees representing 31% of the total number of refugees from Syria, 54% of them being children and youth and 51.5% of them being women (UNHCR, data for Lebanon June 2017, data for Jordan November 2017).
Considering that more than half of the refugee population is aged below 18 years in both countries, and approximately one third of the population affected by Syria crisis are young people between the ages of 10 and 24, it is vital for Child Protection (CP) services to remain available at grass root level considering the protracted nature of the crisis.
Tdh has been present in the Middle East since the 70’s. Tdh interventions over the past years included CP projects for the most marginalized, in Lebanon since 1977 and in Jordan since 2007. Tdh core expertise in Lebanon and Jordan includes Psychosocial Support (PSS) and LifeSkills activities, Case Management and socio-economic assistance, Informal education, Support group sessions, Community Based Interventions around CP and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Research as well as Capacity Building of local government and civil society actors.
Main responsibilities
Your mission is to implement the communication plan of the AFD project. You have to build Tdh’s brand reputation internally and externally at national, regional and international level in order to contribute to position Tdh as the leading Swiss child relief agency. You would support actively the regional initiative throughout MENA region. You would coordinate a quality and regular communication flow with the Communication Department at HQ.
Fonction details
To work on Tdh communication strategy at national, regional and global level
· Lead the development/reinforcement of Regional Communication strategic orientations and its annual action plan.
· Support the Communication Officers in others Tdh delegations in the MENA Zone to elaborate/reinforce their national Tdh communication strategies and their follow-up and regular update and to issue yearly communication action plan.
To reflect the Tdh intervention and to support the development of requested communication material as part of intervention
· Ensure the development of communication materiel presenting each projects, key initiatives and the delegation overall (one-pager, video, article, movies, photos, audio interviews, success stories, case studies, testimonies, etc.) adapted to the different targets (staff, donors, community and state committees, outside visitors, etc) and in line with Tdh strategy and the communication calendar (with key events identified for the year)
· Support the communication officers in the identification and liaison with external working partners and beneficiaries to document Tdh intervention.
· Support program team to develop communication materiel and events as part of activities planned in projects proposals.
· Monitor the respect of branding contract with donors.
Communication Reporting
· Submit a regular update on the communication activities to the Zone and to the HQ Communication Department.
· Provide HQ with ready-to-publish content about programmes and projects in the country / region.
· Ensure the regional programs reporting when requested.
Internal Coordination
At national level
· Active participation to the delegation monthly coordination meeting.
· Supervise the organization of Events, Anniversary, etc. as per developed communication calendar and share material ready-to-publish with HQ.
· Provide HQ with information in order to feed campaigns in which Tdh is involved throughout MENA zone, for instance No Lost Generation (NLG), Time to Talk (T2T), Destination Unknown (DU).
At regional Level
- Active participation to the regional internal coordination mechanism.
- Coordinate the development, by the national communication officers, of the MENAnewsletter and ensure its proper sharing with the teams of the MENA Zone.
- Lead the organization of Events, Anniversary, etc. at regional level (coordinating the efforts at national level) and the sharing of material ready-to-publish with the HQ.
· Collect information from other MENA delegations in order to feed campaigns in which Tdh is involved throughout MENA zone.
To contribute to the development of Tdh visibility in the country with appropriate support media according the audience targeted (General public and Donors)
· Develop relationships with key local, national, regional and international media and thus contributing to a well visibility of Tdh in the MENA countries of intervention (Project activities, Events, Anniversary, Key dates, etc.). And organise and supervise local and national visits when relevant.
· Propose opportunities to host media from Switzerland.
· Organise at regional level and supervise at national level the international field visits related to communication
· Provide rapid alerts to the Delegate/HQ Communication Department/HQ MENA in case of media opportunities.
· Ensure the appropriate content in order to rightly target:
· local audience by publishing local content on social media through Facebook account(s), Instagram account(s), website(s);
· local, national and international media and experts through Twitter account(s);
· Target national and international donors/institutions through specialized website(s).
To ensure the understanding and respect of the Tdh communication guidelines and rules
· Support the delegations’ teams to understand and respect Tdh policies regarding communication.
· Ensure that external suppliers respect the Tdh Corporate Identity.
To ensure the Capacity Building of the team and stakeholders in matter of communication.
· Coach and empower local staff regarding editorial and visual guidelines.
· Support actively the Communication Officers in Tdh others delegations in the MENA Zone, encouraging effective team work and providing supervision and guidance.
· Ensures the coaching of any collaborator under their responsibility, from the recruiting to the final collaboration reports. Uses the good practices so that their management respects the values of Tdh;
· Evaluate the staff under his/her direct responsibility on a regular basis and pass on the evaluations and recommendations to the Country Representative of Delegation;
Keep informed on the Actuality concerning MENA region
· Hand a press review, focused especially on Tdh countries and topics of intervention, and share with HQ MENA zone and Communication Department at HQ level.
Finance and Administration
· Comply with appropriate Tdh financial management procedures (manual of operations) for any expenses and procurement related to communication.
Others
At national and regional level
Undertake all other duties that may be determined by the HQ MENA zone and that are compatible with the job.
Profile
· At least 3 years of experience in communications (NGO or private sector) or in journalism
· Relevant University degree
· Excellent written and spoken Arabic (local language) and English
· Ability to use publishing/editing software as InDesign for instance is an advantage
